PaySafeGo – Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

PaySafeGo Pty Ltd (“PaySafeGo”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an Australian proprietary company incorporated pursuant to the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and operates as an AML/CTF compliance and identity verification service provider.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect personal information in accordance with:

  • the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs),
  • the Identity Verification Services Act 2023 (Cth),
  • the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth), and
  • other applicable laws and regulatory obligations.

2. Definition of Personal Information

We collect personal information relating to our clients’ members either directly from individuals or via our clients, strictly for lawful and authorised purposes.

2.1 Personal Information for Identity Verification

Personal information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Full name
  • Residential address
  • Date of birth
  • Geometrical representation of the face (faceprint)
  • Information derived from government-issued identification documents
  • Any other information from which an individual’s identity can be reasonably determined

Important:

PaySafeGo does not store copies of identity documents and does not collect or store credit or debit card details.

3. Use of Personal Information

3.1 Identity Verification and Compliance

We use personal information for the purpose of identity verification through the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service and Identity Verification Services, in compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and AML/CTF requirements.

Personal information is collected only to the extent required by our clients for lawful service delivery and regulatory compliance.

3.2 Consent for Collection and Identity Verification

At the time of identity verification, the following consent statement is used:

By continuing, you expressly consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information for identity verification through the Australian Government’s Identity Verification Services.

Your information will be used solely to confirm your identity and handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Identity Verification Services Act 2023 (Cth).

If you do not provide this consent, we may be unable to verify your identity and you may not be able to access certain products or services.

By providing your personal details, you confirm that you have read and understood this consent and agree to proceed with identity verification using document verification services provided by issuing authorities.

4. Storage, Security, and Retention

4.1 Secure Storage

All personal information is stored electronically using secure systems and protected against unauthorised access, misuse, interference, loss, or disclosure. Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

4.2 Security Measures

Our security controls include:

  • Storage of all personal information within Australian-based data centres
  • Use of secure cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure
  • Protection against cyber threats such as DDoS attacks
  • Mandatory internal security and privacy training for staff
  • Multi-factor authentication for system access
  • Ongoing monitoring, audits, and security reviews

4.3 Data Retention and Secure Destruction

PaySafeGo retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including compliance with AML/CTF, identity verification, and legal obligations.

Where required by law, including under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth), certain records may be retained for minimum statutory periods.

Once personal information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or permanently de-identified using industry-accepted methods.

4.4 Notifiable Data Breaches

In the event of an eligible data breach, PaySafeGo will comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.

5. Disclosure of Personal Information

5.1 Third-Party Disclosure

PaySafeGo does not disclose personal information to third parties except where:

  • required or authorised by law, or
  • necessary for identity verification through government services

5.2 Overseas Disclosure

PaySafeGo does not disclose personal information to overseas recipients. All personal information is stored and processed within Australia.

If overseas disclosure becomes necessary in the future, reasonable steps will be taken to ensure compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5.3 Regulatory and Law Enforcement Disclosure

As an AML/CTF compliance service provider, PaySafeGo may disclose personal information to AUSTRAC, law enforcement agencies, or other government authorities where required or authorised by law.

6. Support Services Access

To provide effective support services, authorised PaySafeGo personnel may access limited data. Access is strictly restricted to information necessary to provide support, and all data remains stored within Australian data centres.

7. Marketing Use

PaySafeGo:

  • does not use personal data for its own marketing purposes,
  • does not send promotional communications to members of its clients, and
  • does not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party.

8.1 Access

Individuals may request access to their personal information held by PaySafeGo.

8.2 Correction

Requests may be made to correct personal information to ensure accuracy and currency.

8.3 Fees and Timeframes

No fee is charged for access requests, although reasonable administrative costs may be recoverable. Requests will be handled within a reasonable timeframe.
